How long have you been painting?
I painted my first acrylic piece in May 2004. It's quite bad (and very cliché), so for those who want a laugh it's still on deviantart if you want to dredge it up.

Where do you get your ideas?
Mainly photography- I love looking at landscape photos. I have a biology degree and am currently studying a master's degree in ecology, so many ideas come from nature, particularly the teeny-tiny ever so wonderful realm of the microscopic. God's amazing creations are infinitely more interesting than anything I could dream up!

What materials do you use?
Only artist-grade materials, including hot-press medium-weight illustration board, sable and sable/ synthetic brushes, and Matisse (an Australian brand) acrylics. I abuse a lot of tiny brushes, and they have to cop it on the chin because their union rep is corrupt. For coloured pencil work I use Derwent pencils on Canson paper.

Can you give me some tips?
Sorry, I don't have time to give individual tuition, but I have tutorials that you may check out.
